ai hackathon

yesterday i did a hackathon for most of the day and somehow ended up winning it with my team. i fully admit that it was mostly the other team members that helped secure the win.

it's interesting, the hackathon. mostly because it was focused around getting something up and running, but it wasn't easy to get it to run in the first place.

i decided to join it because i happened to hear about it and because i didn' know anything really about the technologies it wanted us to use, and that was strange? but also... yeah i get it?

so the technologies were using open claw/clawsup to create an autonomous agent that was hooked up tot he blockchain, telegram, and anything else you needed. it would then be able to do... whatever you asked it to do to try to make money.

we managed to hook it up to the things they wanted, and to get everything working. but that took hours upon hours of time.

we had an idea to make quotes easier for hvac companies. but really that idea can be applied to any company.

so somehow we won.

i came away from the event just thinking of how strange and weird all of this technology is, bots in telegram, llms, open claw, clawsup, blockchain, etc.

it felt like it was all in this bucket of "try to make it work" with all of these technologies...i can understand wanting to decentralize things, and that makes sense in different settings... the argument of having the llms actions being decentralized, that way it can look back on what it is doing, and others can see that as well? ehh i guess? maybe that is a perfect use for it.

with the limitations of the llms... parameter window or whatever it's called, they would more easily be able to look at previous stuff if it's all on a blockchain? then also other people can see what is on the chain and make adjustments based on that.

i don't think either of these technologies should be around currently, but that's from an energy standpoint matter.

i know until a few years ago i was constantly hearing about how much energy blockchains were using up... now it's all about how much llms are using up, because that seems to be much larger than blockchains.

we have such issues right now when it comes to sustainability, or a green future, or keeping the planet liveable... i just can't condone the use of these technologies...when they are so seemingly useless right now.

i dunno. sure they have changed the world... and llms or generative ai is going to keep changing the world or agentic i guess? it's just more and more buzzwords and slowly changing what is around until it's... hopefully working and making money

hopefully it'll all change.
